The year 2023 brought challenges and uncertainties, particularly in the realm of training and apprenticeships.
Several organisations, including Go Train, Qube Learning, Skills Training, Wiseability, and Key Training, faced the unfortunate prospect of administration due to funding cuts. These organisations have played pivotal roles in empowering individuals with the skills they need to succeed.
Their stories serve as a stark reminder of the importance of continuous investment in training and apprenticeships. In a world that is constantly evolving, providing accessible and quality education and training opportunities is essential. It’s a call to action for all of us to advocate for increased support and resources in these critical areas.
As part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, we celebrate extraordinary women who’ve broken barriers and shattered glass ceilings, inspiring generations to come. One of the highlights of 2023 was an unforgettable evening spent in the company of Lord DR Michael Hastings of Scarisbrick CBE. His presence and words left a profound impact on all in attendance. Lord Hastings is renowned for his dedication to social justice and his tireless efforts to make the world a better place.
During his lecture, Lord Hastings challenged us to reevaluate our roles as leaders in society and business. He emphasized the need for reflection and action, urging us to address pressing global issues such as poverty, homelessness, and reform within the criminal justice system. His insights into the power held by those in positions of authority were eye-opening, drawing parallels from historical and contemporary events that have shaped our world.
Unite for Peace and Compassion

One particular quote from Lord Hastings, taken outside Elmina Castle in Ghana, where millions of enslaved Africans suffered unimaginable horrors, captures the essence of his message: “In Everlasting Memory Of the Anguish of our ancestors. May those who died rest in peace. May those who return find their roots. May humanity never again perpetrate such injustice against humanity. We the living vow to uphold this.”
